Free desktop wallpaper – kitchen tools!

Sometimes I’ll see something online that I draw inspiration from.  When I was working on a flyer for one of the events at my day job, I came across some really cool free vector shapes and the idea came to me.  Sites like clker.com offer free, royalty-free vector images which is a wonderful resource.  It was from that site that I downloaded and recoloured the vector images for a fun desktop wallpaper that I’m offering now, to you!

Leave me a note if you enjoyed this one, or if you have any suggestions for future wallpapers (other sizes, different colours, etc).  As for me, I have lots more on the go right now, including a super awesome petting zoo party for a special little guy!  Look for it on the blog, soon! 🙂

Daily & Weekly Planner for Educators – free printable

Attention teachers and homeschoolers! It’s the start of a new school year, and it’s always a good idea to start the year off organized… so today, I’m offering up some free printable Daily & Weekly planners.

I was recently chatting with my friend Jen about my blog and graphic design in general.  She told me about her adventures in homeschooling, and suggested that it would be cool if I offered up some printables on my blog using my own graphic flair for moms who homeschool.  I decided to take her up on the challenge, but it is taking quite a bit of research.  I don’t have kids, and I’ve never tried educating them before, so I’m not sure exactly what is needed for homeschooling.  I am, however, super big on organization – so while I attempt to learn about what kids would like, here’s something that I know will be useful for moms, teachers and educators in general.

Daily & Weekly Planners for Homeschool & Teachers by Superflash Creative

I created these files in Illustrator, and used grey, black and white as my colour scheme, so that you don’t have to worry about using up all your colour ink.  The PDF’s are in two separate files for easy printing (Because you may want 365 pages of the daily, and only 52 of the weekly!)

I’m trying out something new for the downloads this time around.  If you would like a full resolution PDF of these two planners, surf on over to Superflash Creative on Facebook, hit the “like” button and then click the free downloads tab.  I plan on offering some free printables over that way as often as possible, so I’m sure you’ll enjoy it!

Back to school!

First Day of School Chalkboard While kids in my new area in Florida have already been in school for two weeks, kids back home in Toronto start school tomorrow!  I remember as a kid, those last two weeks of summer were always the best.  That’s when the CNE was on – the local fair that I attended every year since I was a child!  I’m actually pretty sad that I didn’t get to attend this year, because there were so many great bands playing – everyone from The Beach Boys to Dragonnette.  I’m pretty sure if I was still living in Toronto, I would’ve been at The Ex almost every day!  The last two weeks of summer were always a bittersweet reminder to soak up as much sun, and live it up as much as possible because it’s a long, cold 9 months ahead.

But, to be fair, I was always super excited to be going back to school.  I loved buying brand new school supplies for the year.  I loved getting back to seeing all my friends every day.  Did you know that my very best friend and I were kept in the same class together, every year from Grade 1 – Grade 8?!  It’s no wonder that she ended up being the Maid of Honour at my wedding!  I’m so thankful to the teachers and principals who made the decision to not separate us!

So, to everyone starting a brand new year of school, especially my lovely nieces and cousins, I wish you much fun and success – and friendships that begin as children, and that last a lifetime!  The graphic at the left is a high enough resolution that you can right click and print, and include in your kids’ lunchboxes, if you so desire!

Come back Wednesday for a daily and weekly planner that would be great for homeschoolers and teachers alike!
